Since the end of the First World War, travellers have been coming to the town of Ypres (Ieper), and the surrounding battlefields, cemeteries and memorials, as ‘pilgrims’ to see the devastation and reflect upon the sacrifice of those who fought, died, and endured the war.
Many people will want to visit the region during this particularly significant centenary year, and a programme of events will be taking place throughout 2017 in the region.
For more information about visiting the region, you may want to visit the Visit Flanders website.
